Dogs love chicken strips. But lately it seems like dogs are getting sick and dying from eating chicken strips. Unfortunately no one has been able to figure out why our dogs are getting sick from chicken strips.
Well don’t deprive your dog of his favorite treat because you are scared to feed them him. Homemade chicken strips for dogs are super easy to make.
I purchased a dehydrated to make chicken strips, but don’t worry you don’t need to buy a dehydrator if you don’t want to, you can use your oven.
I find that chicken that is partially frozen easier easier to cut, but this is a personal preference.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Thoroughly wash and dry the boneless, skinless chicken breast (you can use any kind of lean mean, or even fruits and vegetables), remove as much of the fat that you can. Slice the chicken with the grain into 1/8″ – 1/4″ strips. Lightly spray baking sheet (or dehydrator trays) and place chicken on sheet in a single layer. Cook the chicken for about 2 hours, this is a rough idea, it may need to cook less or longer depending of the size of the sliced chicken pieces. Remove from oven once the jerky feels very dry and hard. There should be no soft spots.
When I make these using my dehydrator it takes all day.
Be sure to store your homemade chicken strips in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.
